Panther Time

Panther Time, a 30-minute reading block, is a time we have set aside in each grade’s schedule to provide concentrated instruction based on individual student need such as:  fluency, comprehension, decoding, and vocabulary work.  The main objective behind this model is that students receive reading instruction that is just right for them. We place students in small groups based on their reading needs as determined by district-wide assessment results and teacher input from daily performance.  We look at a variety of data including weekly progress monitoring to promote flexible grouping of students throughout the school year based on their instructional needs.  We continue to develop our knowledge and use of research-backed reading strategies and our use of a data-based problem solving approach in addressing the reading needs of each of our students. We look forward to this opportunity to meet the literacy needs of all our students.
