Thank you for your interest in the activities of the Panorama Community School District. We welcome you to our School Board meetings. The Panorama Board of Education represents the communities of Panora, Linden, Yale, Jamaica, and Bagley and advocates for public school needs.
Our mission is to provide the best possible educational services to the members of the community. We believe students should be provided with a stimulating environment and opportunities for teaching and learning to occur. We also believe teachers must be committed to growing professionally and seeing that Panorama students achieve their true potential. The administrators, staff, and the community are central to these beliefs, making important contributions toward educational issues.
Make-up of the Board:
The Panorama Board of Education consists of five elected community members who serve as representatives for their director districts for a term of four years. In Iowa, school board members are elected on the second Tuesday in September of odd-numbered years. Their terms are overlapping; three members are elected for four years, followed by two members being elected for four years at the next election. State law does not limit the number of terms a member may serve. Board members receive no pay for their service.
Meetings
The Panorama Board of Education typically meets the second Monday of each month. Meetings usually begin at 6:30 p.m. and are held in the boardroom located in the MS/HS building at 701 West Main Street. All meetings are posted at least 24 hours in advance. The postings include the meeting time, location, and agenda. Agenda items outline the topics of discussion and action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The state assigns various powers, duties, and responsibilities to the Board of Education as a whole. The Board is empowered only when they meet as a group in legal session. The Panorama Board of Education follows a governance model. In this process, the Board gives direction to the school district as to its priorities and goals, and the administration then develops the best procedures and practices to fulfill these goals.

- Review and act upon policies for the operation of the school district
